International singer songwriter returns to Wooloweyah

Emily Barker and her multi-instrumentalist partner Lukas Drinkwater are set to return to Wooloweyah Hall on Friday 4th March.

Having grown up by the Blackwood River in Bridgetown WA, Emily has spent the last 20 years carving out a career as an independent songwriter from her base in the UK.

Event organiser Phil Nicholas said, “I first started working with Emily in 2006, which feels like a lifetime ago now. If you have ever watched the TV detective series Wallander, then you’ve heard Emily’s music, as her song Nostalgia soundtracked the opening titles.”

Since leaving Australia in the early 2000s, Emily has covered so much ground as a professional musician. She has self-funded and recorded over eight albums, including collaborations with musicians in Nashville, performed at the 2012 London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony and scored film soundtracks.

Emily will be performing tracks from her latest album, A Dark Murmuration of Words, as well as songs from a covers album she and Lukas recorded while in hotel quarantine in Perth at the end of 2021.

Mr Nicholas said, “Not only did Emily and Lukas travel from the UK to play these shows, the original east coast dates in January had to be postponed due to Omicron.”

“Now that we can sing and dance to live music again, I hope people will venture out to show their support for live music and reward the endurance of these two remarkable musicians,” said Mr Nicholas.

Tickets cost $25 from www.eventsdelivered.com.au or search Emily Barker Wooloweyah Hall on Eventbrite.
