On Sunday I joined the Taste-a-tri hosted by Grafton Triathlon Club.
The club was started again recently and held the event to encourage people who had not tried a triathlon before to come along and give it a go. A number of 1st timers attended and tried their hand at the Taste-a-Tri or Tempta Tri.
Elle Murdock joined in the Taste-a-tri with her father, John. Elle said “My 1st triathlon I felt the pressure because I’ve never done it before and I pushed really hard and at the end I persevered and I did it. It felt good”
The shorter distances make the taste-a-triathlons accessible to people who may be good at one or two aspects of a triathlon but not so fit at the third. The taste-a-tri was a 100 m swim followed by a 4 1/2km bike ride and 1km run, the tempta tri was a 300 meter swim, 12km bike ride followed by a 3km run.
Although not an official triathlon it was great to see a fight to the finish between Lachlan Wilcox and Savannah Bartlett.
The next event will be held on 23rd January.
